2008 Desert Dash and Anaconda Adventure Race
First up for the year was the ‘Desert Dash’ crew, comprising of a bunch of inexperienced cyclists aged from 20 to 60 years old. These guys tackled the 1200km stretch of desert from Norseman in Western Australia to Ceduna in South Australia. They rode day and night dodging sun, wind, road trains and wombats and completed the ride in 43 hours and 50 minutes! Amazing. Great work guys and thanks to all those who supported and donated to their great ride. To see photos of the trip click here. Next up was the crew ‘Cause for Concern’, who are based in the southwest of Western Australia. This relatively inexperienced (nay, hadn’t paddled a kayak at all!) group of guys and girls tackled the annual Anaconda Adventure Race, a grueling off road and open water extravaganza. They smashed it and raised a whole bunch of cash for the school's construction in the process. We thank them so much for their efforts and hope they inspire others to organise their own DIY Challenge and make a difference to these children’s lives. |
